Day 1

  • Breaking the Fast 5p-6:30p. For those who plan to fast August 18th-August 31st, for our youth, for our town of Taos, for the next Seven Generations to come, we will break the fast at DreamTree.     All are welcome to the breaking of the fast gathering in the Dreamtree round room where we will share a simple meal. After two weeks of community fasting, we join to reflect on our experiences and hopes for youth who have suicided or pondered it. We will consider what actions we can take into the next year to support this healing movement. 
     
  • Night Walk in Taos Canyon (meet at First Campground aka South boundary parking lotwith Silke Markowski 7-9p
    We will  walk the forest trail acknowledging the ending of the day, the gift of body, light, nature and community. Our walk will lead us to the springs in the canyon, where we will sing a water song and have a water blessing. We will call for help to walk into the night with awakened senses, with courage and confidence and call on help for all our young ones, pray for forgiveness and healing. We will continue our walk to the memorial of Iris and honor the spirit of this young woman, and honor all the young people that have died in Taos in recent years. We will shed our tears and make a commitment to life.  Elders will head back, and youth will come together for a special
